BILLIE FUCKING PIPER
Hello!

Sorry for the extended break from picture (and other) posting, LJ! I was in the US for two weeks and such, and then I had a new computer and etc. etc. etc. blah blah blah. BUT I HAVE RETURNED! TRIUMPHANT!

Please enjoy my vacation photos of American midwestern randomness...

The SEA-TAC gift shop: full o' bad puns

Sadness for book nerds: The original Borders Books, going out of business.

Old, beat-up shoes.

Does this book placement seem a bit absure to anyone else?

Your hostess

Old-Fashioned transportation, with all the attendant comfort: Amtrak

Waiting for the train

Rural MI

Fields

A mill, I believe.

Riding on the train, being super vain.

Union Station, Chicago

Downtown Chicago by day

And by night. My favorite skyscraper in the world, Chicago's Pussy Tower, is in the background on the left.

Views of Lake Michigan

The L, which always looks shockingly rickety to me.

A super-cute kitty cat and an old Korg synth

Public transport advertising.

I wonder why this shop went out of business...

Northeast Chicago...

More public transport advertising

The most ridiculous breakfast menu ever. (The Bongo Room: IF YOU ARE IN CHICAGO, GO.)

Just in case you didn't have these admonitions in mind... (Ferndale, MI)

Sleaze preservation: Awesome old signage in The Loving Touch, a former happy ending massage parlour turned into a hipster bar in Ferndale.

Stay classy, Ypsilanti.

Downtown Ypsi

I'm sure there's a... large? market for this...

University of Michigan campus, Ann Arbor

Epic sky

Puppy! (My aunt's exceedingly well treated dog.)

You know what cats love? BOXES. (This is my grandmother's cat, a little foundling I helped rescue.)

EXTREME CLOSEUP

In case you ever wanted tea like what you can get in Japanese vending machines—unsweetened green stuff—I can't recommend Itoen's American line of teas enough. UNSWEETENED. SO GOOD.

Detroit Metropolitan Airport, McNamara Terminal

And... home!

OMG you were not far from me at all. We should have met up for coffee or something. Love the picks especially the ones of MI but I may be a bit partial to them.

Chicago is amazing and still looks good, I haven't been there in a while but I think I need to go back soon.

Glad you like the picks. I was SO BUSY when I was in the states, so I probably wouldn't have been able to meet up. :( It is a shame, though!
