BILLIE FUCKING PIPER
I took a minibreak over the weekend and went to Kanazawa. Behold!

Kanazawa Station

Omi-cho Market

Good Manners: Smoke tobacco in designated spots.

Kanazawa is famous for its gold leaf; in tourist areas, you can find gold-leaf-covered anything. Including golf balls. Somehow I managed not to buy myself any shiny gold things.

Chili oil with gold flakes in it

Delicious warabi-mochi (wiggly wobbly sweet rice treats, covered in sweet toasted soybean powder on the right, and green tea on the left)

The old teahouse district

A gold-leaf room

The girl with the shamisen on the poster is a very nice friend of a friend.

Kanazawa Castle

Apparently this lantern (in the Kenrakuen garden) is very very famous in Kanazawa.

My friend + a pine tree. Many of the trees in Kenrakuen were supported by crazy stilts. How many trees had to die that these aesthetically pleasing trees might live?!

The stilts. They created this neat underforest effect.

Pretty pondage

The oldest fountain in Japan, powered by water pressure differentials between two ponds. Not remarkable looking, but I'm in awe of the nerdy fun engineers who thought of it.

Gift shop. Did you run out of room on your SD card taking pics?

Cherry blossom and green tea flavored soft cream.
